As a homeowner, some of the most important choices you make relate to how you furnish your home. Every choice influences the amount of time and money you invest in your home. We understand that. We also respect the fact that your home is your castle, and you want it to be perfect.

We take great pride in the fact that we bend over backwards to deliver the best possible products to our customers. But to us, it is so much more. We want you to be delighted with your home at every turn. For that to happen, you have to be delighted with its furnishings. Our goal is to give you every opportunity by way of a wide selection of handcrafted furniture that offers a combination of beauty and hard-wearing quality.

Our Story So Far

The Painted Furniture Co. brand was launched in 2010 by husband-and-wife Adam and Rosy. The two already had extensive experience in the furniture industry. Yet they found the state of modern furniture quite bland. There was too much wood finished with too much lacquer. They began toying with the idea of swapping the lacquer for paint.

On a whim they asked one of their oak collection suppliers to paint a few pieces in a nice grey-green colour. The supplier responded with an oak dresser painted in a colour Adam and Rosy refer to as 'Rockford'. And with that piece, their first Cotswold collection was born.

Stunning Results

Painting their oak furniture instantly provided a collection that still offered all of the same quality customers had come to expect. It was simply injected with a bit of fun by way of colour. Incidentally, that first Cotswold dresser with Rockford paint still sits in Adam and Rosy's home today.

They knew they had something different right from the start. They also knew that The Painted Furniture Co. brand needed to be different from top to bottom. They set out to make their brand, and their company, something people were not expecting.

What Makes Us Different

More than a decade later, The Painted Furniture Co. is still different by design. What makes us different? A lot of things, beginning with our premium quality, timeless furniture that is unlike anything our customers can buy elsewhere. No one else has our colour choices. No one else combines natural wood with high quality paint finishes the way we do. But that's not all.

We believe our customers are even more important than our high-quality furniture. We go to great lengths to ensure that every customer is taken care of throughout the entire buying journey. From initial contact to delivery and beyond, putting smiles on customer faces is always top priority. We want you to keep smiling years after delivery and final inspection.

Our Furniture

The quality of both build and finish across our various collections is exceptional. You can certainly buy cheaper furniture elsewhere, but if you want something that really demonstrates why you spent a few extra pounds, our collections offer exactly what you're looking for. You will fully understand every time you look at your piece from The Painted Furniture Co.

Our People

Unlike nameless and faceless corporate retailers, our company is run by a relatively small group of real people just like you. We actually like meeting and talking to our customers. If you have a particular request, know that we have probably heard it before. We will do whatever we can to accommodate you. If you need some advice, we will happily talk about furniture and fashion for as long as you like. And if you ever have a problem after delivery, we will give you our full attention. We will do whatever it takes to resolve the issue.

We do not have sales associates, relationship managers, or customer advisers. We employ real people who have a real interest in both our customers and our business. Whenever you interact with The Painted Furniture Co., you are interacting with people who want to enjoy their homes and furnishings just as much as you do. In short, we live in the real world, too!

Our Workshop

Nestled in the pretty countryside of the South West, in the Vale of the White Horse, this bustling workshop is at the heart of our furniture collections.

Does our description sound romantic and storybook-worthy? The location actually is and it’s in our workshop is where all of the magic happens. Every piece of furniture we sell is made to order here. Every piece is handcrafted by experienced builders who know their stuff.

The one thing you will not find at our workshop is mass production. We don't employ hundreds of workers standing at a conveyor belt assembling one or two pieces as they pass by. Each furniture piece is given the attention it deserves by a small number of craftsmen.

Our workshop is just that: a workshop. It is not a huge mass production factory churning out piece after piece without any acknowledgement of the customer who will own it.

Choice of Colours

It is one thing to claim furniture is handmade in Britain, but it's an entirely different matter to actually do it. To us, 'handmade' means something specific. Our craftsmen rely on traditional building techniques. They are familiar with dovetail joints, rulers, pencils, and line drawings. They are familiar with time-tested basics because they return to them day after day.

To us, 'handmade in Britain' means combining traditional furniture building techniques with modern machinery. The machinery makes it easier to create precision dovetail joints, for example. But the joint itself is a traditional joint that offers exceptional strength. It has been used for centuries because it has proven itself.

Experience and Skill

Our craftsmen have over 100 years of experience in the timber trade. They know their stuff like no one else in the business. Yet experience alone cannot produce the furniture pieces that come out of our workshop. Experience must be combined with skill to achieve the level of quality we demand.

Needless to say, our craftsmen are among the most skilled in the industry. Not only that, but they also love what they do. They put their heart and soul into every piece they produce. You will see it every time you glance at your painted furniture from The Painted Furniture Co.

As for materials, we source our timber from experienced suppliers. Only the highest quality materials will do. We choose timber with a mind toward the quality of your furniture years down the road. In other words, only the best materials make it possible to create timeless furniture. Our experienced carpenters work with it using a combination of modern and traditional cutting and construction techniques.

Meet the Team

Adam & Rosy co-founded The Painted Furniture Co and they are not often out of the office. They’re passionate about their furniture collections and make every effort to ensure they please customers, from design to delivery.

If you visit our Cirencester showroom you will more than likely be greeted by Andrea, Kate or Orla. If our Kingston Upon Thames showroom is your closest you will get a warm welcome from Rob or Callum.

They have a wealth of experience and a great eye for interior design. They know our furniture collections and the many colour and sizing options inside out, so whether you’re looking for advice on a particular style you are looking to achieve, or you need some extra help deciding the best colour of furniture for your room, our friendly team will be happy to help.

Our delivery duo carefully transport and position your furniture in your home - so if you have any delivery questions our team are on hand to take them in advance to ensure everything goes smoothly.

We ordered our furniture during lockdown and received excellent customer service throughout. Nothing was too much trouble in helping us decide our bespoke pieces, sending colour samples and options along the way.

Being able to choose furniture to fit our room perfectly and in our choice of colour was a great option for us as we needed wardrobes to fit under the eaves. We love the high quality finish and the whole order was excellent value for money.

As we live in Guernsey TPFCo helped us to arrange with our removal company delivery to us. The items were well packaged and arrived in perfect condition.

We will be recommending them to our friends and will use them again without hesitation.

I just want to say a special thank you to Andrea and Kate for all your help. I had so many questions for you both and you were always so helpful and friendly; Andrea especially, helping with a FaceTime viewing during lockdown. We absolutely love our Amberley bedroom furniture and it’s the perfect pre- wedding gift.

Amazing company with amazing staff!

Andrea in the Cirencester shop was so very helpful when we visited during lockdown and on the phone afterwards. She helped us immensely with deciding how to change the furniture to include shelves to suit our needs. Also Matt and Ian were an amazing delivery team. They were both extremely courteous, very friendly and treated my home and my new furniture with the utmost respect.

I just wanted to let you know that I will probably be placing another order in the next few days.

Our Cirencester Showroom

Our Kingston-Upon-Thames Showroom

Our two beautiful showrooms are located in Cirencester and Kingston-Upon-Thames. The Cirencester building is over 300 years old and makes a wonderful display area for our furniture collections. Our building in Kingston-Upon-Thames isn't nearly as old, but it is equally homely and charming. Both locations are ideal for showcasing the beauty and quality our craftsmen bring to life with every piece.

We often have clients visiting from as far afield as Kent and Essex, Devon, the North West and even further! So if you want some help choosing your pieces, don’t be shy. Hop in the car and come see us!
