A big wall can make a perfectly nice little bookcase look rather lonely. The Amberley Double Storage Bookcase has no such problem.

At 1860mm wide and 2000mm high, it gives you a broad run of open shelving without turning the room into a formal library. Six fully adjustable shelves span the two upper sections, so there is plenty of freedom for books, framed photographs, ceramics, artwork and the things you have collected because you actually like them, rather than because a stylist told you to.

The lower half deals with everything that does not need displaying quite so proudly. Behind the four panelled doors sit two separate cupboards, each with an adjustable shelf, creating generous concealed storage for games, paperwork, serving pieces, boxes and the assorted household population that looks much better with the doors closed.

Shelving can be kept fully painted for a cleaner, more unified look or specified in solid oak, bringing natural grain and contrast through the display area. Add your preferred paint colour, hardware and plinth detail and the same bookcase can take on a surprisingly different personality.

Its size is substantial, but getting it into the room need not become a spectator sport. The double bookcase is constructed from two separate bookcase sections with a shared top and base, allowing it to be delivered in manageable parts and assembled in position.

Every piece is made to order in our Wiltshire workshop, and bespoke is particularly useful with a bookcase of this scale. We can alter the width, height or depth, rethink cupboard and shelving proportions or tailor the whole arrangement around a particular stretch of wall. When you are giving over nearly two metres to a bookcase, it might as well be exactly the bookcase you wanted.
