Wonderful & Warm Winter Trends 2015/16
As the chilly winter season well and truly descends upon us, now is the perfect time to think about sprucing up your home and give your humble abode that wonderful warm feeling to fend off the icy embraces from outside.
So with that in mind, we've decided to give you a helping hand. We've done all the leg work & research to bring you the hottest interior design trends for this winter, that are guaranteed to warm you & your home up.
Accessorise
Cosy Textiles
Everyone loves cosy textiles & comfy knitwear and this winter is certainly no different. Placing chunky throws, flannel blankets & cashmere sheets around the house can provide a very visual feeling of snugness & serenity that will help the day's troubles just melt away. Dotting accessories like knitted footrests, fluffy rugs & fur stools can all offer that homely & warm feeling underfoot.
Vintage Explorer
The world of interior design is merging rather beautifully with the outside world of escapism right now. Adventures are something we all long for & some of us may have enjoyed a couple along the way. So with that in mind, a huge trend this winter is the addition of vintage globes, stunning yet archaic looking suitcases and aged maps of the world, that all look like they've come straight from the case of a great explorer.
Classic globes provide great decoration on painted desks or atop a stunning painted coffee table, while the suitcases act as fascinating bedside tables & the world map is a real talking point in the living room, especially if it's one that all your adventures can be savoured or plotted on!
A Splash of Whimsy
While it's cold & dark outside you want your home to be warm and fun inside this winter. A great way to incorporate and achieve this is with some whimsical touches that really give your home that personal feel. You can be as creative as you like, so just do whatever puts a smile on your face. A good space saving solution would be to get a blanket chest, some other ingenious ideas could be to decorate some furniture with pages from vintage books, cover an entire wall in plates or create an adorable jewellery holder using an old picture frame - just let your creativity flow.
Think Of A Colour
Shades of Grey
Different shades of grey have been a trending colour for some time now, and the trend does not look like disappearing anytime soon, especially with winter well & truly here. The one colour that every winter home needs is grey, as there's so much beauty you can achieve with it. Grey walls can really add something special to your décor, including the perfect mix of warmth and snug coolness. But if you don't want to re-decorate your walls, you can achieve the same lovely winter feel with some simple stylish additions. Bed linen, cushions, throws, rugs and even this painted display cabinet in different shades of grey can really make your room sparkle.
Deep Rich Blues
An alternative colour scheme that works great in winter is blue. Deep shades of blue including ink, royal blue and midnight indigo radiate class & sophistication and can lift your home's décor to a new level. Deep shades of blue look great painted onto beautiful wooden furniture or onto large walls, but also work just as well as more subtle affects like lamp shades, bowls and curtains.
Fresh Whites
Whites can really help to enhance furniture and decor in a room, and during the winter this can be a great way to bring more light into a dark or small space. If you are looking to bring a room to life then white painted furniture will add beautiful characteristics to your home. Whites fit well with any type of colour scheme and this is one reason why they are so popular.

Painted Furniture
Painted Furniture can help to add some warmth to your rooms during the winter months. A solid wood painted bed frame is a great investment and will make sure you have a comfortable bed for those long winter nights. Adding some painted living room furniture is another good idea for the colder months as something like a beautifully finished painted coffee table is the ideal place to rest them warm winter drinks while also becoming a focal point for the room.

During those rather chilly winter months, the fireplace is a great place for a family to gather round. In recent years fireplaces have been left out of homes, as people look to utilise more space and rely on their central heating. However, the concept of fireplaces has changed, as they were once seen as something to simply keep you warm, but now they are so much more. Fireplaces can be stunning focal points that provide dynamic lighting and bring a lovely ambience to the room. With a fabulous fireplace you really can create something intriguing and interesting, that will add so much to your home and make winter truly enjoyable for you.
Statement Artwork
During the celebratory winter months you'll be spending more time inside, and perhaps even be inviting more people to your home to continue the celebrations. So if that's the case you may want to make a real statement, and one effective way to do that is with a piece of statement artwork. It could be a rather beautiful painting, a photograph that really makes you think or something super fun that will get the conversation flowing. Whatever your art tastes are, you're sure to attract people's attention.
